What We Offer
At IXL Academy of Learning we offer students an alternative to the stereotypical confines of the classroom and provide them with a smaller more personalised, tailored and nurturing learning environment that promotes building confidence, individual growth and focuses on academic performance. Our distance learning is based on National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) and comprises four phases:
- Foundation Phase (Grade R – 3)
- Intermediate Phase (Grade 4 – 6)
- Senior Phase (Grade 7 – 9)
- FET Phase (Grade 10 – 12)
Our team of experienced and qualified tutors are thoroughly equipped to teach, assess and prepare the students to write the National Senior Certificate examination in Grade 12 through our accredited examination board, SACAI.
We offer the following programmes:
Our homeschooling programmes provide opportunities for students to be taught in a way that best suits their needs and allows them to become active participants in their learning experience. Our proactive programmes are applicable to all subjects and place the learner at the centre of the learning of experience, using methods that widen thought processes and encourage real-world application.
Our after-care facilities and educational programme provides a stimulating environment to the learners in which they can complete any homework tasks with the supervision of tutors. At our after-care facilities, not only do our tutors offer assistance, but also allow the learners free time that incorporates fun educational activities.
Our homework supervision classes provide students with a positive learning environment that is comforting and inviting, which allows students to openly ask the on-hand tutors any questions pertaining to their homework, projects and exam preparations.
We have tutors who specialise in certain subjects and offer one-on-one tutoring to students’ subject requirements. We provide classrooms that are intimate for these private sessions, which allow students to interact comfortably with the tutors, so that all subject-related issues can be resolved.
The subject and grade specific workshops are facilitated by tutors who allow students to think independently and assist each other with the subject. The tutors also plan exercises and tasks for the workshops to revise topics in preparation for exams.
The pre-exam booster sessions are facilitated by subject-specific tutors, to assist students by extracting the main concepts of sections that may appear in the exam.
The study skills programme was developed on the basis that each student does not learn in the same way. The programme goes into depth by figuring out best ways to study that is specific to each student. Various methods are used before coming to the best conclusion.
Our programmes are all held on campus in classrooms that are warm and hospitable, which encourages learners to participate in their learning experience.
